German short filmfest to be held online due to COVID-19

The Int'l Short Film Festival Oberhausen is to be held online over coronavirus concerns.

The highly accredited International Short Film Festival Oberhausen in Germany has decided to hold its 2020 edition online due to the global outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The 66th edition of the festival has been rescheduled to be held online while more than 350 films will be screened in this edition.

Filmmakers have the opportunity to contact the audience through the online means of the festival and talk about the films.

The festival has so far hosted many big names in film industry, including Roman Polanski and Cate Shortland.

Some 7,000 films are submitted on average per year and around 500 films are shown at the festival.

The online edition of the German event will be held on May 13-18, 2020.
